Stealing from kids

It's sad in this day of budget cuts that people feel that they have to steal from schools!

see this article.

In the comments section some people criticize that the school doesn't have a security system. How is the school district suppose to afford a security system when they have a hard time just paying employees and keeping the school supplied? Let's see, should we buy these supplies for the children or put in a security system? At the same time I think that having a way to protect the supplies they currently have would be great. It doesn't make sense to keep replace things that were stolen when they can use that money to improve the school experience. Now I'm just expressing my opinion on what I've heard from our principal and some of the teachers at the PTA meetings.

On another note: I'm not saying that the public school system is the best, I think our school system definitely has room for improvement.

It's a sad day isn't it when we have to start worrying about security systems in our schools.

That is so crazy that someone would steal from the school. I have to say though security systems are must these days. All the schools I went to growing up out of state all had HIGH systems. I was always suprised Utah didnt have them in.

It's too bad that anyone steals from anyone. I hope that the police are given some good leads.

My hubby's in education, so I might be a little one-sided, but I'm so frustrated with the lack of importance Utah (or Utah's legislature) puts on education! A lot of things they choose to spend our taxes on aren't nearly as important as the school systems, and the kids are suffering for it! Basically, what I'm saying is I don't see security systems for the schools in the near future. (Especially when we could build cool new things like gigantic soccer stadiums and the like.) But I completely agree with you -- whoever did this is only hurting the students, and it's so SAD!
(end rant. sorry!)

Yes, I definitely agree there needs to be more importance placed on education here in Utah. My mom was a teacher for over 30 years and constantly had to use her own money to buy basic supplies for her class. I wish the legislature would give the schools more money so they could afford security systems and have peace of mind.

What losers still from schools? But on the second hand I do think that with that kind of stuff happening so much nowadays I think it would be wise for ALL schools to have a few cameras, even if they just cover the high expense areas...
