So I learned something new the other day. I'd always thought that writing "X-mas" was taking Christ out of Christmas. My mom heard, on the radio, that X is from the Greek spelling of Christ. So I looked it up on Wikipedia. Sure enough: The "X" in Xmas is from the Greek letter Chi, which is the first letter of Χριστός, Christ in Greek.

Interesting. I didn't know that. I'd always thought the same.
I still like seeing Christ in Christmas and not the X.
