loosing shoes

This week when I was stopped at a stop light on my way to Costco I saw this scene:

A woman trying to hurry across the crosswalk with a child in tow. About half way through the crosswalk the child's shoe comes off and they quickly turn around, grab the shoe, turn back the way they were going and get across the street. Then they stop to put the shoe on. The woman takes some time to comfort the child.

This got me thinking about all the times my kids loose their shoes when we are walking. It seems to happen more when I am in a hurry. I've lost track of the number of times they loose their shoe in a parking lot as we are quickly crossing in front of a vehicle or in the aisle of the store when there is a long line of people behind us and there is no way to avoid blocking everyone while the shoe is retrieved. I always get impatient with having to stop to get the shoe, which in turn upsets my child who I then need to comfort so they know I'm not upset with them, just the situation. Why is it that my kids love wearing the shoes that fall off so easy? Oh well, I guess when the shoe falls off maybe that is Heavenly Father's way of reminding me to slow down.

the thing that gets me is that i probably cause most of my own stress and the kids sadness just by own reaction, AND, i have noticed that when embarrassment is involved i have to work really hard to stay calm...getting better though....good reminder fine lady. thank you by the way again for how wonderful you are with those sunbeams....especially my crazy little man....
