When I was a Sophomore in High School my parents let me go to school dances, even though I was only 15, as long as it was group dates. Steve took me to my first High School dance, Homecoming.
Our Story
Once upon a time there was a girl named Cassie whose family moved several times. The first weekend in October of her sixth grade year her family moved to a little red brick house. She slowly started making friends. By the time she was in Young Women's she felt like she had several friends, and some were even guys. Right before her fourteenth birthday she was asked to "go steady" by one of the guys (Steve). They'd hang out with their friends and hold hands. After a month Cassie was flattered by the attention of a different guy (J). She broke Steve's heart and ended up "going with" J. Steve stayed a friend even though he was upset by what happened. About six months later, Cassie and J realized they were not compatible and they broke up.
The summer Cassie turned 15, she and Steve were hanging out again. Their favorite activity was playing games, like steal-the-flag, POW, and touch football, with their friends. When that school year began Steve asked Cassie to Homecoming. Unknown to Cassie, Steve went hunting with his dad that weekend so he had a long drive, about 3 to 4 hours one way, to take her to Homecoming. They stayed friends in High School and dated other people.
During Cassie's senior year, Steve was sent on his mission by his High School sweetheart (S). While he was on his mission S "Dear John"ed him. When Steve returned from his mission he could have tried to win back his sweetheart; she was engaged but not married. He decided that she had made her decision and he began to date other people.
After Cassie finished her Associate Degree at Snow College she moved home for the summer. Then Steve and Cassie began to date. In July, Steve tore the ligament in his ankle, so Cassie got to be his "chauffeur"; they were almost inseparable. That August Steve proposed to Cassie.
It's now ten years later and they are happily married with four beautiful children.
(FYI: when I was little my dad decided that Chastina was to long of a name for a little girl, so he called me "Cassie". The nickname stuck.)

Oh "Cassie" those are GREAT photo's. I love the boots girl! That homecoming photo is fabulous! Love the dresses and hair.
I was just showing my niece my wedding pictures yesteday. She asked me why I hated them so much. I told her, "look at the hair, what is up with THAT?"
You two were a cute couple then, you are a cute couple now!
What a great story! Isn't it fun to look back and fall in love all over again! Love the pictures. It's just as fun to look back and think..."Oh my goodness, what was I thinking." :0)
You guys look so young in the homecoming picture. I love looking at my high school dance pictures, they are already out of date and hilarious.
I loved this blog. It doesn't seem like all that long ago we were all in Y.W.'s.
Great post! I love it! I love how you "broke Steve's heart to 'go with' J" ... I did the same kind of thing with Adam. Luckily, both Steve & Adam were patient and ended up with their dream girls... :)
