FYI:

Steve was going to surprise me with the trip. His original plan was to take me to Disneyland then tell me we were going to fly to San Diego to go to Sea World. Then when we got to the airport he was going to tell me that we were actually going to Cancun. Well, he has a hard time keeping secrets; especially when it is something he is excited about. So he told me at the end of January what the real plan was.

He was debating between the Moon Palace Resort and the Riu Palace Resort. They were both highly recommended by some of his coworkers. We ended up staying at the Moon Palace.

If you are interested in going to Cancun, have your passport, and around $2000, you can do a trip for two. It can cost up to $3000 if you get one of the peak weeks, examples: Spring Break, Memorial Day week.
We found our flight and room on Expedia. The resort we booked is all inclusive (which means it includes all your food, beverages, and tips).

Most of the excursions: snorkeling, going to the ruin, etc., will cost extra. They cost the same at the resort as online.

For anyone who is hesitant because you don't know Spanish, if you know "Gracias" and "Por favor" you will be understood. Most of the people in Cancun speak English.

Also, if you are concerned about the safety, if you have at least two people you should be safe. Most of the resorts, as far as we saw, have security checkpoints to get onto the resort property.
