In our school, depending on what grade you are in, the grades start on different days.
The first day for 3rd through 6th graders was Wednesday, August 19th.
Here is Ree all ready for her first day of fourth grade:
The 1st and 2nd graders started Friday. Vin met with his teacher on Wednesday for his testing/assessment. This is Vin Friday, August 21st, ready for second grade:
The kindergarten teachers have about a week to meet with and see how much the students know. This is Na, this morning, ready for her first day of kindergarten:
So K and I have three hours to hang out then we get to pick Na up from kindergarten. Na is so excited to go back tomorrow!
All the kids LOVE their teachers and are excited for the things they get to learn and do this year.

So fun!! I always loved how I felt on the first day of school with a new outfit!! I think I have passed that on to my kids too!
I was hoping that someone would post their kids going back to school. It was fun to see them last year. Your kids all look so cute all ready for school. They all seem to be more excited to go than their father was when he went to school.
The starting different days drove me NUTS! I had four different "first day of school" days. And I didn't take one picture. Boo! Bad mom! Bad form!
I hate sending my kids to School. Sad Sad day. I love your kitchen floor. Who did it for you guys? I want to do our kitchen!
It is nice when school starts and you can get a routine going but also sad because then you don't have as much time to spend with the kiddos. Your kids are so cute!
Shauna: We got our carpet and vinyl from RC Willey.
Your kids look cute! I don't think I would like the staggered start days, we just started doing it for Kindergarten last year (the first week half the kids would go on Tuesday and Thursday, the other half on Wednesday and Friday) and the freshman have the high school to themselves the first day.
You guys also start a lot earlier than we do! It was made a state law a few years back that public schools can't start school until the day after Labor Day due to the tourism jobs. That is September 8 this year! That means they won't get out for the summer until June 10, which is already hot and humid and the air conditioning is awful!
What can I say? It's Michigan!
