Saturday night as we were finishing getting the kids ready for bed, about 8:45/9:00 pm, K ran and jumped on Steve and my bed. We have a king mattress in a water bed frame so it's fairly high. As he jumped on the corner he was twisting so he'd land sitting on the edge. He immediately slipped off and landed on his right elbow. He was crying, but we didn't realize how bad he was hurt until we picked him up and saw the swelling. He didn't want to move his hand. My first thought "He's dislocated his elbow." After hugs and settling him down a little we called the after hours clinic and got an appointment for 9:40pm. K and I got in the truck and drove over. After examining K's elbow he decided it wasn't a simple dislocation, so he sent us to UVRMC's ER. Just after we had checking in and got K settled, my phone rang. Steve was wondering how it was going. I told him what was going on then I sent Elizabeth a text to see if she could hang out at our house while Steve came over. She could! (Thanks Elizabeth!) Steve went with K to X-Ray, while I talked with the ER admission. After about 20/30 min they came back. K had dislocated his elbow and has a slight fracture. The Orthopedic surgeon, Dr Schow, came in and looked at the x-ray. After K was given a sedative Dr. Schow fixed his elbow and put a splint on K's arm. I went home while this was going on so one of us could get some sleep and take the other kids to church this morning. After watching K for just over an hour, to make sure the sedative had wore off, they sent him home. Steve and K got home just after 2am.
Today Steve stayed with K while I took everyone else to church. Tomorrow I will make an appointment with Dr. Schow on Tuesday, so he can take another look at K's arm to see if he will need surgery to fix the break.

Poor little boy! I hope that he doesn't have to have surgery.
Wow! I am so sorry, not exactly what you needed right now, huh? Poor K. I hope the Dr. has good news and no surgery is needed.
Oh how I love the little accidents kids have, of course lately it's been my husband who keeps ending up injured.
Very sorry to hear that. Hope the Dr's goes well on Tues. Let us know if there is anything we can do to help!
Ouch! Hope everything goes well at the Dr.
Those are the longest nights! You guys are such troopers! Hope he is healing great! and no more visits to the er any time soon!!
I'm so sorry this happened and NOW???? of all times?? But your daughters testimony yesterday was so sweet and beautiful and just what the ward needed.
Thank you Rachel! I didn't hear her testimony because I took Na to the ladies room. Although we did talk about it earlier, so I had an idea of what she was going to say.
Poor K...Mom was telling me about it yesterday. I didn't realize he dislocated it too. Everything has to be bad timing. When it rains it pours! Let me know if you need any help :)
My boys still haven't had any ER visits (knock on wood!). It sounds like you guys handled it well. Hope he gets feeling better soon!
Poor guy! Hopefully it heals fast!!
